I adapted a lot of wade sportfishing that season, waistline deep in the inter coastal fishing soft baits in the mangs with my steadfast Stradic– those were the good old days!

Now there was this one section that I adored to go, it was smack-dab in front of this ladies pad. I would almost always park like half a kilometer away since she had already called up the cops on me 3 or 4 instances. I always remember slipping into the mangs and splashing out along with my rod and bookbag hoping that I would not get caught by a sea beast. This lady must have consistently been on the hunt for people fishing there because whenever I would walk out in front of where the Mangroves quit and within the section that was in front of her residence, I would undoubtedly always see her waiting in the big picture home window. Once I caught on to where to park so she could not screw me, I would just look delighted, wave, and cast ever so in harmony into that inter coastal water. That year I lived on Singer Island was one of the best years of my life time.

In fishing the pump house and wading the spots I located in the inter coastal, I was able to meet a few cool residents that were down to coach me up on fishing down here. I am super grateful for those guys and hopefully you will get to hear more about them in my later posts.

 

Lets talk concerning one of the reels I do own, the Shimano Stradic FI 4000

The fundamental detail I like regarding this reel is that it is light weight and tremendously longer lasting. When I began to learn salt water fishing I went out and got some random rod and reel combination with this heavy freakin reel on it. Line Capacity (lb|yds) 8|240, 10|200, 12|160– Exactly what is this? This is a small reel in assessment to big game fishing reels, but it is all you require for capturing fish from shore. I have actually landed 80 + pound Tarpon on this reel. One thing to remember with the line capacity is that the specs are for mono filament line, if you are using braided line (which you should be in my opinion) then the reel will accommodate way more line than what is represented by the spec capacity.

Gear Ratio 5.8:1 – This is good. Every one time you reel the handle, it takes the reel almost 6 complete circles. It makes for reeling in a hefty sea beast a little less stressful, just remember to keep your rod tip up so the fish doesn’t break you off!

Line retrieve per crank 36 inches – This is related to the gear ratio Weight 11.6 oz – This is one of my best-loved things about this reel! When I am casting synthetic baits 100 times over and over, I don’t like to use a heavy reel because my arm will get tired very quickly.
